What will happen if your credit card expired yet someone try to charge money from it?
I signed up for a free trial for an online company a year ago then I cancelled my membership. My credit card expired since then but I got an email from them today saying they are "having difficulties processing my credit card". When I called they said they are charging me for membership fee (even though I cancelled my membership already). So what will happen next? The credit card number I gave them a year ago is no longer active, and they don’t have any other information about me either (I used fake address and phone number wen I signed up). Will they be able to go after me?
I got my confirmation email and I called them. They said since my membership is cancelled I don’t owe anything now. Wheew…Thanks for answering my question though.

In theory, no. Sounds like harassment. I would get confirmation e-mails from all cancellations. Always keep the paper trail. Just make sure you don’t get sent to collections. Communicate with all parties, and you should be fine.

Yes they can get money from you. I hope you didn’t give them your social security number because that will hurt your credit score. One case similar to yours was a Bally’s Total fitness membership. People cancelled their credit card to avoid renewing gym membership. Bally’s sent their delinquent account to debt collection. You still owe them money until you call and cancel the membership promptly.
