I just sold my XBox on Ebay, and my brother took it upon himself to ship it for me. However, he forgot to let me delete my card/account from the machine. How can I prevent the next owner from using it?

Thanks for any help.

If you have a solution, I’d really appreciate it, but please don’t waste your time (and mine) with answers along the lines of "you shouldn’t have done that now you’re screwed".

I placed a purchase on YesStyle.com … But a bit after, I got this eMail from them shortly after:::

"We would like to bring to your attention that your order is currently on hold as we were unable to obtain authorization from your credit card issuing bank for various reasons. This may not necessary mean that your credit card is invalid but our Accounting Department may require additional time to gain authorization from your credit card issuing bank. Verification process may take anywhere from 1 to 3 business days and if required, our Accounting Department will contact you via email or phone for more information.

Please note that until your order has been approved we cannot finalize the expected ship out date. A revised expected ship out date will be indicated to you again once order is approved. "

::: Has this ever happened to anyone here before, and if so, how long did it take for YesStyle to finish processing your order? D8

I’m all worried nowwwww. D: I’d really like some comforting words about now ;;—-;; Help? D:

I mainly depend on my bank debit card, but between paychecks, if need be, I use the credit card. It’s an AmEx credit card and it was working perfectly fine, even yesterday. But at some point… well, when I went to to eat somewhere, the the credit card machine would not read the card. The guy punched the number in and all was fine. Then, later, at Wal-Mart, same thing happened. It kept coming up, Card Read Error. I tried one more time at a gas station, with the same result. The number goes in, but I guess something is wrong with the strip… what did I do to mess that up? It had been in the same pocket as my cell phone… could that have caused a problem somehow? Although, I’ve had the two in the same pocket, before.

Thanks.
@Reena: Will the numbers still work if they are keyed into the card machine? Or will the card be perpetually rejected, simply because the magnetic strip doesn’t work? I’m just wondering for the "meanwhile" while I wait on a new card.

I purchased an item from a specialty shop online and paid for it with a credit card. The website said they ship their orders within 24 hours or at the 1-3 days. They accepted my payment but it has been listed as pending for about week now and i have sent customer support messages through their website and gotten no response and to the email account i found for the administrator through a "whois" site but haven’t gotten a response either. I called the phone number they had listed and it seemed to be for the domain registery and they had a voicemail saying if i need to contact the owner of the domain to email them or send a certified letter. My only guess is that the website is no longer being managed (out of business) but they haven’t closed the site down, but I really don’t know what the case is. But how do I get my money back ?

I sent in my 2 year service contract form in the business reply envelope only to receive a letter two weeks later from the following address

Microsoft Programs
7313 Mayflower Park Drive
Zionsville IN 46077

The letter easily looks like it could have been faked. The main point of the letter is that it is saying that "We have recently improved our credit card security process and require the three or four digit CVV security number on the credit card in order to complete your order".

The letter asks that I write the CVV number on the original form next to my credit card number AND on the letter itself (in an indicated blank, underlined spot). The letter also wants me to copy my console’s serial number on the letter as well, along with my daytime phone number.

Has anyone else gotten this letter? Is it real or fake because the this Zionsville IN was NOT where the business reply envelope was address to go (it was address to One Microsoft Way in WA but I don’t remember the whole exact address).

UPDATE: I sent an e-mail to xbox support about this question but knowing I’m not a person who can wait, I wanted to ask my question here as well because I thought others who have xbox’s might know the answer and could also assist me in this matter.

This has really pissed me off lately, but I’ve been on several business trips where the Taxi driver says - "Oh my credit card machine is giving me problems, sorry." It got worse with my recent business trip to Boston, where 3 out of the 4 taxi drivers told me the same thing, and the last one said that his machine was giving him problems all day, and he didnt even try to see if it was working. So he said, "how much cash you got?" I said which is all I had, so then he gave a big sigh and then pressed his machine and swiped my card and VIOLA! it worked on the first try, what a load of crap he was giving me.

I currently have a Yahoo! Merchant Account. I want to know how hard it is to create a professional looking website using dreamweaver CS3. I’ve downloaded the trial, and so far I can make a cheap "mickey mouse" looking website. I am in the Ecommerce business and it is VERY important to have a professional looking website. I don’t have the money to pay a professional web designer, so I want to know if Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 would be a good investment. I have had some education in C++ and in HTML. Also I have heard that you need Adobe Flash CS3 or Adobe Photoshop to create professional looking web banners and interactive elements, is this true? Is there anything else that is cheaper? Please only honest answers. Thank you.

For clarity: Husband is NOT an authorized user or on the account.

GA "tort immunity" prevents collecting on bad checks written to spouses. Police say bad check to your wife is not a crime…only criminal when written to a merchant or other.
I need to know if forgery charges are treated with "tort immunity" as well. Thanks

If you worked for a company that sold credit card processing, how would you sell that?

I feel like an idiot walking into a small business and being like…" Hey how much are you paying to process visa and mastercards per transaction? - Want to see if I can beat the rate you are paying now?"

To me that sounds like people will just be like….nah I’m good.

Should I call first? Should I hit up flea markets and walk around and ask all the merchants.

Should I call businesses that are mobile and most likely dont even take credit cards and offer them a solution?

What do you think?

I took out a 12-month-same-as-cash cred card to pay for a k item. Starting In December I was being hounded by an automated phone call asking to call this 800 #. When I did, I was told I had missed a payment and immediate payment was due, as well as 0 worth of interest and late fees were added. This seemed odd since I paid past payments on time. I checked with my bank, and the check had not cleared. I talked with the co and they would not back out the interest and late fees even though I offered to pay the account off (before interest and fees). I had even spoke to the manager of the agent. In addition, they wanted a .95 processing fee for accepting payment over the phone.

I wrote a check for the original principal in full, sent it to the co via certified mail, and they received it before the next payment due date. The very next day after it was received, I got another call from the company and I did not return. By the weekend, the check was returned, unaccepted.
The company did open it. It was mailed from them along with a letter of non-acceptance because the account would not be paid in full (interest and fees not included) and mailed the original check back with it. They said to call the Collections number for further info. I have yet to do that, but I am sure now it includes yet another late fee and more interest because of this. It was the collections number that I tried to reason with them in the first place.
The letter I sent via certified mail with the check that was returned — it did request that the account be paid in full due to the belief that I should not be responsible for the fees if they misplaced the check.

I do not have the time to call "during business hours" today, but I will call the phone number listed in their reply to talk to them again tomorrow. They seem very stuck up their behind with their answers to my inquiries, that I doubt they will accept "half" payment on fees. I will sure as heck dispute it more if they add more from this certified mail bounce-back.
Here’s a bit of new info. I talked to a new agent and his supervisor (same supe as before) about the recent return of the check. Now the account has *ANOTHER* late fee and interest accrued since "payment was not received by the due date" even though I have certified proof that it was received in their office on the due date, and they refused to even back off that, even though I offered to resend in the check.

Also, if you specify "principal only" on a check, can they legally refuse the payment or take the check and apply it to fees and interest if they so choose?

I am a 24 yr/old small business owner and it seems I never get a brake! I just keep on jumping into "to-good-to-be-true" offers. I may not jump into to many, but when I do, they are big leaps, generally into, what seems like, a bottomless pit.
I don’t have much credit history, and what I do have is BAD!
I started @ 18 by getting a credit card w/ a 0 limit. It wasn’t bad, I was making the money, paying it off, then I lost my income. After the card was already maxed out! That was six years ago, so that means if I wait another year or 2 it will be off of my report all together. Well, you might say "problem solved"… but wait, there’s more! I went to college, got a supplementary scholarship, my parents covered the rest, and then I hear that I am getting a "refund check". I thought that it was a refund because I got another scholarship somewhere that I applied for, but I was wrong. It was from the government and it was a loan. If I had realized that at that time, I would have put it in a bank in a cd account, but I didn’t and then when it came time to pay it back, I didn’t know what it was, so I brushed it of as one of the many mistakes that our government makes and ignored it. BIG MISTAKE! Up until now, I have made money through music, on basically a per contract basis. So, money came when it came.
I ended up getting married and when my wife and I did our taxes together this year they took the money I owed. So that is paid off, and it’s supposed to be off of my report by now.
Now, here is the big problem! I own a business, a towing business, it’s a very profitable business, if your trucks continue to work. Even more profitable if you have a tow lot. I make the majority of my money towing cars from A to B. I can’t tap into the largest cash cow in the automotive industry, the government! In MA you need certain "towing rights" to tow for the city and/or state, also if you want to do "trespass towing" (parking lot tows).
Now to my point, I have been having problems with my trucks (2 trucks) and I don’t have a lot. A man approached me about his company named Vericomm, it’s a merchant services company. He gave me the whole spiel on how they have the best rates around and there is no cost to cancel, no minimum charges required, no charges other than the lease (through MBF LEASING) and a statement fee, it all should have added up to a month.
Now that was all good and fine, but I wasn’t getting enough people who wanted to pay by card to get it. So, he told me about something that made financial sense to me. He said that a week after I got the machine, whether I used it or not, I would be able to tap into up to a 0,000 advance, which was paid back by the use of the machine. A percentage would be taken out of every charge, and there would be little or no interest on the advance. He told me thatI was more likely to get about 30k to 50k on my 1st request. This seemed like a dream come true to me, because I could get my trucks in tip top shape and have a down payment for a lease on some property for a tow lot. I knew (and I still know) that if I had that available to me, I would make that money back in just a few short months.
It turned out that, he pushed me passed all of the fine print, that said exactly the opposite of what he said. They ended up charging me over 0 a month and I then found out that the advance is only available to those who regularly bring in ,000 a week for at least 4 weeks through their company before they would consider me for only ,500.
Well, I tried to explain my complaint to them and they ignored me and continued to charge my account. I ended up closing my account and now they are threatening to put in on my credit report (I am supposedly, personally liable for about ,600 for my lease.) and/or take legal action if I don’t resolve this in the next 24 hours.
I feel like crap, my credit was just on it’s way to getting better. Now my wife is ready to divorce me, my business is in shambles, I have a card machine that doesn’t even work, and my credit report is about to get even worse!
Does anyone know any companies that will give me credit today! And is it easier to get a business credit card w/ a personal guarantee, or is it easier to get a personal credit card!
