I am wondering if I will be able to use 2 different merchant accounts for one particular business. Both merchant accounts we opened specifically for this business. They are with different companies. I am wondering if we will be able to use both merchant accounts for the same business?

Hi all,

I’m living in Jordan (Middle East) and I prepared my online business but one important step in my business I couldn’t find any online transaction company (like verisigns, paypal, etc.) support Middle East to open Merchant accounts, why is that? I searched and contacted alot of transaction companies around the world but no luck, the online business is just opened for foreign people (from Europe, the States, etc.)

Can anyone pls. explain that to me?

Thancks,
Paypal just give me the ability to send money but I want to receive also I contacted them regarding this issue and they told me they just support sending money from my country (Jordan)

I just recently established my business, obtaining all the required documentation and credentials to do legitimate business. I am just getting started so I have very limited capital (just over 00, but will spend some of them for my website I am getting graphically designed, and SEO friendly) to work with. My actual credit is bad after a huge mess a couple of years back with an X-fiance who took me for a ride : (

So I have begun the first stages of interaction with legitimate wholesale distributors to set-up retail accounts to sell their products. I am also working with some of them who agreed to dropship for me. I have marketing and sales plans and everything I can possibly think of to get my business going. But then it dawned on me today, with no credit, and having to find and institute a merchant credit account (which i hear is hard for home businesses), I have a problem that totally slipped my mind when setting up my business plan. First problem is finding a merchant account. My second big problem is if I do they only deposit once a week. How can I expect my customers to wait a week for my merchant account to deposit their funds in my bank account before I can order their product, and then they have to wait the time it takes my manufacturers/ distributors to ship them the product. We’re talking 2 weeks there. They would just find another seller. Then I thought maybe I can see if merchant accounts can split the payment, net profit to me and cost to distributor. But what if there is a chargeback so I knew that would not work. Maybe I could have the distributor take the payments and they deposit the net sales into my bank account. For one thing why would they go through so much trouble for a new retailer, that would look pretty bad on me to even ask as they would have to incure the CC companies charges on my sales which would be out of the question. Not to mention chargebacks. It would not work for me. It would seem a simple enough thought to say why not just pay for it out of my own capital in my bank account as I would get the money plus net sales deposited within a week from merchant account (my first thought when this all dawned on me). Then I realized that the demand of too many products at once (which could easily happen in one day) could end up exceeding my current capital in my bank account and then I end up screwed looking bad on both sides. Paypal holds your money for 21 days to make sure there are no chargebacks so that would not work. No distributor would even think of extending a line of credit this early in business.

Does anyone have any idea first to the thought of getting a merchant account, and secondly to the dilemma in accepting the payment and paying distributor for shipment of goods?

Sorry I wrote a book, and thank you for any and all feedback.

Is it absolutely necessary to have a shopping cart to sell online? and are there any merchant account providers that have bundled merchant accounts & shopping carts? (i’m thinking its easier and cheaper that way…)

We currently use three merchant accounts at our business: one for Quickbooks, one for the boss’ telephone orders, and one for our e-commerce website.

We are looking at consolidating to one, but from what I’ve heard, you can only use Intuits merchant account in Quickbooks. Is that true? or can you change the information and accept credit cards through a different company?

Thanks!
I am aware you can import outside merchant information, what I need to do is process credit cards with Quickbooks. I need to know if Quickbooks ONLY accepts their merchant accounts or if I can use a different one, such as Authorize.net…

I recently purchased the licenses to 6 online stores, fully equipped with credit card processors, shopping carts, and merchant accounts. I have already found a product I wish to sell using the first of my 6 websites. However, the distributor needs an EIN before I enter into business with them. What all do I need to get to conduct business legally from my home over the internet? I will be particpating mostly in dropshipping and I am located in Michigan. Is it necessary to form a business and register a DBA?

I own a bricks and mortar store and would like to set up an e-commerce site. The amount of products for me to choose from is overwhelming. Also, there is a lot of research to be done: hosting companies, merchant accounts, POS (we may need to change this software), SSL certificates, shopping carts, PCI compliance companies, and possibly other components. It seems if I choose the wrong products, and wish to change later, some components may not be compatible when I want to switch. Has anyone else gone through this process and what are your suggestions. The business is small but growing. We want to choose products that will ease into new growth and eventually accommodate a large company.

I am considering starting a retail business in which I would have high volume in credit/debit card transactions. Fraud and the related chargebacks are a big concern for me. When I set up merchant accounts with Visa, Mastercard, etc. - is it possible to have the PIN number required on all transactions, whether debit or credit? I would like to completely eliminate the possibility of a credit or debit card being swiped and approved UNLESS the correct PIN is entered by the consumer in possession of the card. I believe that each and every credit/debit card has a PIN associated with it.
All (non-proprietrary) credit cards can be used for cash advances from an ATM. To do so requires the credit card PIN. Therefore, I believe all credit cards have a PIN associated with them.

My company is being sued for a large amount of money. Even though I am working with attorneys I’m having a hard time understanding how this whole judgement thing works. It appears my company ONLY will be sued according to threats from the collector and a copy of the suit. Also, I signed no personal guarantee. Even if they do sue me, I’ve been told by at least one attorney that I could fight that on grounds of being wrong or incorrect. At any rate, I want to know what the REAL process of collection is like in the worst case. Say they get a judgement against my company. Small business. I have no "assets" other than a corporate checking and a merchant account. I have some other savings that have been in my name personally for a long time and unfortunately haven’t been added to in years. Bottom line, what and how can these guys go after my only money to my name? Can they take my house? Can they somehow "freeze" my checking accounts? Wages aren’t an issue since I’m self-employed. Thanks .
Forgot to add there is rarely much money in the checking and merchant accounts as I wind up spending MOST of everything I make in business expenses and my basic living expenses (mortgage, etc.) I KNOW I don’t do perfect accounting but my biz is fairly new and I seriously doubt any small biz corporation could do it any other way in order to make a living.

I work at home and sell some hardware, some of my customers wants to pay me through there credit card instead of check.

How can I accept credit cards on phone and process it to my bank ?

1) I know setting up any merchant accounts with banks is a tedious process. Is there any basic 3rd party service which can accept credit cards payment for me online and then pay me, with a minimal fees ?

2) During this transaction does my customer see my name or the 3rd party credit card service name on there credit card statement ?

3) Does the 3rd party who will accept credit cards on my behalf will have to know what kind of services or goods I am selling to my customer ?
