To make a long story short, I had a merchant credit card processing account setup through the original creditor, Cardservice International, approximately 4 years ago. During that time I only made a few charges using the account. They were large charges and totaled just over ,000 altogether. These charges were never deposited into my bank account and I was contacted by a man working with their fraud management department. He wanted me to send out products before receiving the funds so I did not agree and I stopped using the merchant account. I also contacted my bank to block their access to my checking account.

Now they have hired the collection agency Allen & Associates on their behalf to collect the ,000 that they never gave me in the first place! I’ve obtained former bank statements from Wachovia and spoken to a branch manager. I attempted to send this information to Allen & Associates, but the agent on the phone refused to provide me with a fax number where I could send documents to dispute this debt and told me that I should just get an attorney because they will sue me. They did "claim" that a representative from Wachovia will be present to testify that the deposits were made so tomorrow I plan to bring the list of supposed deposits into a branch to get a certified letter from a branch manager stating that they were not. This invalid debt for ,000 is also on my credit report as of right now. I’ve disputed it and it was removed at one point, but it appears that A&A has reported it again.

I need to legal advice on how to proceed. I’ve tried to dispute the debt, but obviously they will not allow me to even show them the documentation I have to support my claims. If I do file a suit against them do I file against the CA or the original creditor?

About 2 years ago I opened up a merchant account with a credit card processing company called Card Service International so I could charge credit cards for my ebay sales instead of using Paypal. Well the first week of sales totaled about ,200 or so. A few days after charging the cards I still saw no sign of the money in my bank account. Then a few days later I saw a DEBIT for ,200 on my account from CSI (card service international). I called them about they explained that since my accoutn was new a red flag was triggered in their system and they were going to have their fraud dept review my account and until the review was complete they would have to chargeback all my recent orders. I explained to the man on the phone SEVERAL TIMES that they have never DEPOSITED the money from the orders into my account int he first place so they didn’t need to DEBIT my account because they never gave me the money to begin with that I had earned from the sales. Apparenly he didn’t care….
I researched the company and found several other complaints similar to mine that and that many class action lawsuits had been filed against CSI b/c they had a history of fraud. I quickly blocked all access to my bank account by this company and filed a chargeback to get my 00 back.

So this morning (2 years later) I wake up and find that I have some new info on my credit report. CSI is claiming that I have debts owed to them amounting ,500! I cannot imagine that the amount of money I owe them could possibly even be anywhere NEAR this amount. My merchant fees per month were only a minimum processing fee and a statement fee. How could I POSSIBLY owe them over 16 grand?

Now is it just me, or can they legally do that? There is just NO way I could owe them that much money. I don’t know what to do. Should I consult an attorney?

Is there a way in our PayPal account to be able to see if someone has paid us with a Visa, or Mastercard, or PayPal account? We receive notices of payments, but we don’t know if the customer specifically paid with a credit card or PayPal. Just want to know if PayPal is prevalent….thanks!
Thanks to the answer I received, but I wanted to know how I could find out if it was through a credit card or a cheque as compared to just PayPal….the question is mostly ‘how’ can I tell, not ‘if’ I can tell. Where in our PayPal merchant account will I be able to find that information. Thank you, though!

At the time, I signed up a merchant account, the sales person ask me to say yes to the phone call that she made in the middle of signing up a merchant account. A trick that is normally used by some dirty players.

I noticed a month later that I end up signing a lease for 36 months with Ladco Leasing company, and that can not be cancelled. I have to give the lease payments for 27 month more that is the period left on lease.

A machine that was less that 0 is going to cost me 00.00 or more. I have been ripped off badly by a merchant account sales women.

Please help me, I have been killed by this lease.
Thanks in advance for your advise

One answer I got was OK the going to the media center to look up grants but I thought grants applied to services for the govt and or research? someone said in one answer 1,500 was too high to start a errand service? it’s 45 to get a city Lisc. and proper car insurance etc, it’s about 1,500 bucks . one said get a pizza job or waiter job HELLO ? sorry but I’ve already looked in those areas I’m either too old or whatever? they already hired college students for waiting jobs as we approach summer soon and pizzerias um GAS costs? whereas in the errand services I can build in costs that include covering for the fuel,of course now that I think of it ,this will probably take ALL of the 1,500 as I have to set up a merchant account for easy transactions. any more ideas on how to raise capital as in getting the dough to start the business? 1,500 isn’t alot of money, paying it back by mid summer or sooner! will be achieved my business will take off real quick I’ve looked into this Biz .

I created a website in my Dreamweaver program. I have a host, domain, and the design. What I need help with is putting a shopping cart on the site. I really don’t want to use PayPal. I plan on getting a merchant account with a credit card processing company as well as a business bank account. A credit card processing company I am looking at offers free software (gateway software), and I’m not sure how this works with my site. Is there anybody here that has a website with a payment system on their site that can explain the process? Does the software give me some kind of code that will corrispond with my site. I’m not selling products. I’m selling ad space and a local directory. So when people want to advertise on my site, they’ll pay an ad fee. Kind of like classifieds. I want the customer to see their ad and the fee they’re being charged. I also created an order form and I would like to understand how I can incorporate a shopping cart w/ the form.
Can anyone help? Thanks.

Hello, is there a way to eliminate buyers from using credit cards on your paypal account when they send you money?

I wish to set up a 3rd party merchant account in it’s place to accept cc’s, and only accept paypal if it’s nonCC payment types to avoid chargeback situations. It’s proven Paypal won’t fight or investigate claims for their customers, and chargebacks could be costly. This is all about min. fraud risks.

So, is there a feature to disable the use of credit cards being used on paypal for a business account? If so, where can I find this?

Thanks

Here’s the deal:

I started my own business, which seemed to be pretty successful. I started accepting MoneyOrders/Checks first, while I looked and set up a merchant account. This was 3 weeks ago. In this pass week I have had 3 chargeback out of no where. From who, I have no idea and it sucks because the book is already shipped. My bank will not give me any information about it. (Bank of America).

It takes 3 weeks to ship product and it is noted before anyone even attempts to buy as well as on the mail order form.

No my account is on hold and I am negative 0. AUGH! How can this be?

Thus I need help. I will dig myself out of this hole. I just would like any advice. I now accept credit and debit from a company which does not allow chargebacks.

Also, does anyone know of any ways to find these scammy people? When purchasing from me they had to sign a contract first, which they broke and I have paper work on all my customers.

Hi

I have a cracking business idea, I truly beleive it is would be very very profitable, and is something very unique, I have not seen anything like this before. I have spent a lot of time thinking about it, and have wrote out a business plan with all the details.
My only problem is funding, I have no money as it is, other than what I spend to survive and get by each day. What are my best options to achieving what I want to setup, I have no money to pay a website to find a entrepreneur for me.

I am from Scotland, and my idea would be a success in basically every country, US, UK, Australia, all of Europe etc, its not limited to one country.

Regarding funding, well the website would be first, one for each additional country, all the same setup though, then after that there would be advertising / marketing costs and a merchant account. Other than this though my idea does not involve staff costs, it could be easily run by me and someone else. Any ideas? Thanks

I am going to start web based business in the next few weeks and I would like to do my own web design. I do not want it to be over the top, using flash, or anything too complicated, but at the same time I do not want it to look simplistic or like it was built using a template.

Eventually I will need to incorporate a database, but most definitely not at first. And I will be setting up a merchant account and will need some sort of shopping cart feature.

What program(s) would be best suited for building a site like this? (I will be working with a pretty skilled graphic artist, so I really just need something to build and maintain it)

Thanks in advance!

I am in the process of opening my companies website to the public but I need a Merchant Account in order to charge customers for there orders during check out. I am sure there are numerous Merchant Companies out there to choose from but I want to be sure I pick the right one for my company. I am not sure how many transactions I will have per month because the business if very new but over time the amount of transactions will increase over time. I know that some Merchant services charge you on an estimated amount of transactions per month, and if you do not reach that level you will be charge additional fees.

If someone could give me some helpful information on what Merchant Companies are better than others, who has good rates? no monthly fees? cheaper monthly fees? etc…

As much information on this topic would be appreciate, even if you can point me in the right direction I would be appreciated.

Thank you for your time

I’m starting an ecommerce site that will sell things from China and will be delivered in the provinces of China. My business registration is in California. So basically, no items or goods will come to CA, just the payment. For security reason and convenience, my merchant account and bank depository is in California. My market primarily are Chinese people in the US who will want to buy things for their family who are in China. With this situation, what are the taxes applicable to me in the state of California?

I just recently established my business, obtaining all the required documentation and credentials to do legitimate business. I am just getting started so I have very limited capital (just over 00, but will spend some of them for my website I am getting graphically designed, and SEO friendly) to work with. My actual credit is bad after a huge mess a couple of years back with an X-fiance who took me for a ride : (

So I have begun the first stages of interaction with legitimate wholesale distributors to set-up retail accounts to sell their products. I am also working with some of them who agreed to dropship for me. I have marketing and sales plans and everything I can possibly think of to get my business going. But then it dawned on me today, with no credit, and having to find and institute a merchant credit account (which i hear is hard for home businesses), I have a problem that totally slipped my mind when setting up my business plan. First problem is finding a merchant account. My second big problem is if I do they only deposit once a week. How can I expect my customers to wait a week for my merchant account to deposit their funds in my bank account before I can order their product, and then they have to wait the time it takes my manufacturers/ distributors to ship them the product. We’re talking 2 weeks there. They would just find another seller. Then I thought maybe I can see if merchant accounts can split the payment, net profit to me and cost to distributor. But what if there is a chargeback so I knew that would not work. Maybe I could have the distributor take the payments and they deposit the net sales into my bank account. For one thing why would they go through so much trouble for a new retailer, that would look pretty bad on me to even ask as they would have to incure the CC companies charges on my sales which would be out of the question. Not to mention chargebacks. It would not work for me. It would seem a simple enough thought to say why not just pay for it out of my own capital in my bank account as I would get the money plus net sales deposited within a week from merchant account (my first thought when this all dawned on me). Then I realized that the demand of too many products at once (which could easily happen in one day) could end up exceeding my current capital in my bank account and then I end up screwed looking bad on both sides. Paypal holds your money for 21 days to make sure there are no chargebacks so that would not work. No distributor would even think of extending a line of credit this early in business.

Does anyone have any idea first to the thought of getting a merchant account, and secondly to the dilemma in accepting the payment and paying distributor for shipment of goods?

Sorry I wrote a book, and thank you for any and all feedback.
