Hello and thank you for reading my question. I am starting a small local business that will involve me picking up and delivering to-go food from restaurants to my clients. I would like to accept payment in cash, check or credit card. Cash and check would be easy, as I could just take it upon delivering the food. Credit cards however, are leaving me a little puzzled. I am a bit familiar with Paypal, but have only used it as a buyer on eBay. Should I have them give me their credit card number/exp date over the phone and then type it in to process on Paypal my own? Should I send them some kind of Paypal e-mail invoice? What would you suggest? I’m looking for a method that is safe and secure, but also efficient and easy for the client. Thanks.

well its my first time using Ebay. i got an account and a Paypal account yesterday. So, today i tried bidding on a cell phone, i put 5.00 as my maximum bid. i confirmed it, but everytime i try this page pops up saying: You can increase the activity limits on your account by taking one or more of the following actions:

1. Sign Up For PayPal

Registration is free and you do not have to pay with PayPal.

PayPal is the best way to pay for your purchases on eBay and offers 00 in buyer protection.
Existing PayPal account holders can click here to link their account.

2. Verify using a Credit Card
Process is immediate and your card will not be charged.
Important: only available for Visa Credit and Mastercard.

so i linked my account.. and it says that Ebay and Paypal was successfully linked but it may take up to a few hours until i can bid. so i waited for a day.. and i tried again AND THAT PAGE STILL POPPED UP.. HOW DO I BID?! thanks. :)

About 2 years ago I opened up a merchant account with a credit card processing company called Card Service International so I could charge credit cards for my ebay sales instead of using Paypal. Well the first week of sales totaled about ,200 or so. A few days after charging the cards I still saw no sign of the money in my bank account. Then a few days later I saw a DEBIT for ,200 on my account from CSI (card service international). I called them about they explained that since my accoutn was new a red flag was triggered in their system and they were going to have their fraud dept review my account and until the review was complete they would have to chargeback all my recent orders. I explained to the man on the phone SEVERAL TIMES that they have never DEPOSITED the money from the orders into my account int he first place so they didn’t need to DEBIT my account because they never gave me the money to begin with that I had earned from the sales. Apparenly he didn’t care….
I researched the company and found several other complaints similar to mine that and that many class action lawsuits had been filed against CSI b/c they had a history of fraud. I quickly blocked all access to my bank account by this company and filed a chargeback to get my 00 back.

So this morning (2 years later) I wake up and find that I have some new info on my credit report. CSI is claiming that I have debts owed to them amounting ,500! I cannot imagine that the amount of money I owe them could possibly even be anywhere NEAR this amount. My merchant fees per month were only a minimum processing fee and a statement fee. How could I POSSIBLY owe them over 16 grand?

Now is it just me, or can they legally do that? There is just NO way I could owe them that much money. I don’t know what to do. Should I consult an attorney?

PayPal account on eBay help please?!!

You see im new ebay and i dont really know how it works…

1. Do you really need to give your card details to sell something?
2. When you buy something using PayPal, how can that work if you don’t have bank account or have not given your card details?
3. If you have sold an item and someone has bought it using PayPal, how do you get your money in cash and how do you know if they have paid?
4. Can i buy items without through card?
5. When you want to bid or buy something, this comes up

"Attention!

In order to maintain a safe trading environment, eBay may limit activity and request additional verification.

At this time we ask that you verify your account.

You have 2 options:
- Phone verification
or
- Credit Card verification

Phone Verification:
We’ll call the phone number registered to your account to verify that you are the account holder. The process is fast, easy and secure.

Credit Card Verification:
The process is immediate and your card will not be charged.

If i choose Phone Verification, will it ask for my card details? if not what will it ask? if it doesn’t ask for my card details does this mean i can purchase the item?

FINALLY whats:
1. Personal or Banker’s Drafts
2. Postal Order
Please do not give me short answers it won’t help

I was going to start doing business under my own name on ebay, I just open a merchant account and now I am trying to figure out if I need a business permit or license if I am doing business under my own name. The only thing I’m trying to figure out is what kind of tax ID # I need to file taxes? Also after I begin to make money off ebay, If I decide to buy a house, a car, ect. (if they require proof of income) how will I provide that to them if need?

Ive been trying to buy a phone off EBay but when I click pay now i want to use a credit card but it wont let me, and when I sign into my paypal it says "You can complete checkout by getting PayPal verified" and
"Verification helps increase the security of the PayPal network as more members successfully pass PayPal’s identification checks.
You will be directed to PayPal to complete this process. You will then be able to return to complete checkout and continue to use PayPal"

I *KNOW* that I can only use 1 shopsafe number with 1 merchant, but my question is…
If I do not have a paypal account, but purchase things in ebay (and they automatically have me using paypal), can I purchase multiple items from different "stores" using the same shopsafe number from my Bank of America VISA card? (paypal being the 1 "merchant")
If it all goes through paypal by default, wouldn’t paypal be considered 1 merchant even though there are multiple "stores" I am buying from in seperate purchases on seperate days?
all of this from just-only 1 shopsafe number!

I just switched from personal to business PayPal account, but I’m beginning to think I made a mistake. Are there monthly fees to accept credit cards on eBay through PayPal? Or, are there just % rates for each transaction?

I am starting a business and want to sell online. I cannot decide between an ebay store and selling directly on my website accepting credit cards with a merchant account. Anyone have experience with these two options?

I’m designing some software to help small mom-and-pop companies put themselves online for little or no recurring cost. The software will be able to run all the functions of their business, from inventory control, to marketing (tie ins to Froogle, eBay, Shopping.com, and AdWords and Overture), to accounting (export in CSV for now, QuickBooks later), and so forth. It will be easy to change the look-and-feel of it (using skins and templates, some of which I’ll build at first, and I’ll publish the guide to creating more). It will integrate with Authorize.net, PayPal, and other merchant services. It will be built using Open Source tools, and will itself be Open Source.

Can anyone think of a good name for something like this?

I plan on creating a web store using another website where the shopping cart, host domain name, etc would be provided. Do I still need a merchant account? Do I need to incorporate my business or can I sell my products (around 10) on my website? I’m not going to sell through ebay because I already have some loyal customers but my products are very cheap (around 10 dollars). So what else do I need to do besides creating the website using their software?

Thanks in advance

I just got approved for an account I signed up for 3 weeks ago. It is from national merchant bancard and they use Authorize.net gateway. I guess the monthly fees add up to about .

I was temporary using Alertpay. Here are the pros and cons:

Alertpay:
-Does not allow customer chargebacks
-Does not charge monthly fee

cons: -Charge .50 for each transfer
-high transaction fee
-takes 5 days to process a bank deposit before sending it
-requires creating a customer account (customers don’t like)
-at times will reject customers and not let them purchase (loss sales)
-Does not integrate with ebay
-Unknown

Other merchant:
-deposits directly
-cheaper over all
-does not require registration
-integrates with ebay

cons:-very poor customer service
-does not protect against chargebacks (but does provide security)

I wanted to know which was better. I am leaning towards Alertpay because it protects against chargebacks and there are a lot of scammy people. If I get a chargeback then I would get that plus a fee taken directly out of my account then a fee to investigate it. Then again, I’d get more customers with the other merchant. Hmmm… What would be the better investment?

I've had 4 adds dissabled by craiglist staff. I didn't do anything wrong short of revealing the location of the items.

Items are in Thailand but I'm selling in America, they are genuine Adidas Soccer t-shirts, original merchandise with tags.

Because of this, I can't submit anything because it keeps flagging me because of the keywords I use in the title and descriptions…

I am not a spammer and the items are genuine and of high quality.

I have a %100 feedback record with Ebay and although I live in Thailand I am a Canadian citizen with a Visa Merchant account, perfect BBB record etc, etc, ect….

This over zealous "moderator" is sabotaging my honest business efforts.

Should I appeal or simply close down the account, open a new one and start from scratch?

Would they still "flag me" for my descriptions and titles under a different account?
