From time to time, in our monthly statement envelopes we receive from our credit cards or from mortgage companies, there is a small double sided advertising leaflet size: 6”3/4 and 3”1/2.

For example, last month I received in my mortgage statement, a leaflet that was selling me labels that I could personalize for envelopes.

I am working for a small non-profit organization and we would want to use the media to bring awareness about our non-profit organization. We have contacted several credit card companies and the people we got on the phone have no clue about who puts the leaflets in the envelopes that are sent out.

It could be that there is an outside company that is outsourcing the entire mailing process and they would also be the ones who include the advertisement.

If you would know how the process works or if you work with that kind of business, please let us know who to contact for sending out this kind of leaflets for the non profit organization.

Thanks

I was contacted by Merchant Referral Services in October of 2009 by phone. It was first presented to me that this company represented Visa and Mastercard. I was told that they were looking for someone to cover the northern ‘half’ of Michigan and that if I signed up I would be given that territory exclusively.

I was told that the registration fee for me to do this would be approximately 0.00. I signed up with the company on October 26th, 2009. as an affiliate. There was also an additional ongoing fee of .00 monthly taken directly from my checking account.

In my home office, I was unable to get into the companies’ ‘back office’, the website/address where I could check on referrals I had submitted to the company. When I called the company, no one answered. I thought the problem was my home office computer, but tried from other computers/internet connections and still was unable to reach the companies’ ‘back office’ to check on referrals.

When I spoke to a company representative about referrals I had submitted, I was told that I had faxed the form to the company with ‘errors’ and would not receive credit/payment for the referral.

When I spoke to different representatives from Merchant Referral Solutions about the problems I was having with access to the company’s’ ‘back office’, and not being able to track referrals, I was told something completely different by each new person I spoke to.

I feel I was lied to about who/what Merchant Referral Solutions really is/was. I know I was mislead about their relationship with major credit card companies and how the process actually works if you do sign up as an affiliate with them.

I did speak to someone from Merchant Referral Solutions about a specific business that I turned in as a referral/lead that had later been contacted by someone else for their business. I asked this man if Merchant Referral Solutions had a sister company that referrals were submitted to. I believed my referral was sold or given away to someone else by Merchant Referral Solutions.

I have been unable to reach a solution with this company. I would like a full refund of my initial affiliate fee of 5.00, as well as the .00 monthly fee being taken from my checking account since October of 2009.

I take care of my husband, Bob, a disabled veteran, full time and was hoping this company would be a solution to financial struggles we’ve already had, not something else we would have to worry about.

I use a cell connection for my notebook and I have a credit card machine (Ingenico 5100) that I would like to connect to it. My wireless connection uses a USB connection for the cell service, and I think there should be a way to do this easily, but I cannot figure it out. Seems to me that my wired connection should be able to be configured on my notebook to bridge the cell adapter and credit card machine. The Ingenico has a network cable and network capable.

I have a low credit score but I don’t have any major debt. When I graduated from high school, preparing for college all these credit card companies were sending me cards. so like a idiot I used them not thinking about my credit score. I got behind on all of them. I had like 5 and i had to settle with the majority of them so i could get rid of them. However, now 6 years later I want to buy a house and get a car and my score is jacked up. I have paid all them off through settlement. but they are still reporting negative on my credit report. I have a phone bill of 1 I need to pay that’s still on there but my score is poor. What can I do to speed up the process for me to be able to at least get a car and a house. I know I have to pay that phone bill but how do i get those write offs and charge off, gone forever. Any suggestions?

I work for the military and part of my job is to in-process people to the base in doing this I fill out several documents most of which contain the same exact information. Ex. name and phone number. I know credit card companies have software that when you fill out information on the first page its already on the second page. Is there any affordable software or a way that I can do this with my documents?

I sometimes see questions about how to get a cash advance on a credit card and people recommend using an ATM machine. I have never done it and have no need to. It just got me interested. Since there is no PIN number associated with a credit card (not a credit/debit card) how could it be used in an ATM machine?

Please only answer if you have done it. I can make guesses such as calling up to bank or going down to a branch.

I only use a debit card for travel and I had never heard of credit card companies issuing pins. I guarantee they have never issued one to me. They sure don’t advertise it.
I meant to say for ATM use while traveling. I use a credit card for purchases and a debit card to obtain cash.

Hi! I am starting a small home business with my mother and we are curious how to get one of the black credit card machines to run credit cards from home - or is it easier to do it over the internet? Also, do you set up an account with the credit card companies? If someone has done this before, can you please explain the beginning of the setup to us please - Thanks so much ;)

I graduated from my second college in December of 2008. While in school, my loans were in deferment from my first school. The company who bought the loan was ACS. I found out recently that "Sunburst Bank" had been reporting my student loans as late from June ‘08 through December ‘08 (while they were in deferment). I called the phone number on my credit report for "Sunburst Bank," and the phone number was for ACS - the company that bought my student loans. As if that wasn’t confusing enough, the lady who said she would send my inquiry on to the "credit reporting department" also said that there was no one to talk with in that department…..leading me to ask then how is this inquiry going to be processed. In the meantime, my credit score has tanked over 100 points, my credit card companies are raising my APRs, my car insurance is rising……and all for something I didn’t do and that isn’t my fault.

How do I get this corrected? I first reported the mistake on August 27, but today when I called the claim is still "pending" and they had no more information than that. They said that it takes 5-7 days for a claim inquiry to be processed through their credit reporting department and that I would be notified when it has been resolved…..but if there is no one to talk with in that department, how is anyone going to notify me???? If there is anyone out there who has an idea what steps I should take, please I’m desperate.

When I took accounting, we learned that credit card companies don’t reimburse merchants for the entire purchase price. Instead, they short the merchant a small cut that they keep for processing the transaction. In my classes, we used 2% for all cards.

But that was many years ago and in academia. In the real world right now, what is the merchant discount for the various credit cards (Visa, Master Card, AMEX, Discover)?

Thanks!
