So, I’m 18 and very confused with this whole credit card "business". All I want is a simple credit card that I can use that when use it, it will extract the exact amount out of my account and pay the merchant in full with out letting me go over the set money in my account. THAT’S IT. No monthly payments, no credit points, just cut and dry card. I’m getting this so I don’t have to carry around cash and if im every mugged I can cancel the card before anything is spent. So what do I get? A visa? A master card?

well its my first time using Ebay. i got an account and a Paypal account yesterday. So, today i tried bidding on a cell phone, i put 5.00 as my maximum bid. i confirmed it, but everytime i try this page pops up saying: You can increase the activity limits on your account by taking one or more of the following actions:

1. Sign Up For PayPal

Registration is free and you do not have to pay with PayPal.

PayPal is the best way to pay for your purchases on eBay and offers 00 in buyer protection.
Existing PayPal account holders can click here to link their account.

2. Verify using a Credit Card
Process is immediate and your card will not be charged.
Important: only available for Visa Credit and Mastercard.

so i linked my account.. and it says that Ebay and Paypal was successfully linked but it may take up to a few hours until i can bid. so i waited for a day.. and i tried again AND THAT PAGE STILL POPPED UP.. HOW DO I BID?! thanks. :)

I guess I will start by explaining my story. I would basically like to know what you would do in this situation, are there any legal steps I can take against them? Please let me know. January of 2008 I applied and was hired for an agent position with West Corporation (a telecommunication company thats "services include processing of customer initiated contacts, automated voice response services and direct marketing services, over the telephone and Internet." on the Bank of America line group (there are several different client based groups throughout the building.) Anyways, I was hired and have been working on this line group processing credit card and loan requests over the phone for 9 months. When I got the job initially I asked my interviewer, a woman in HR, and my trainer if it was against company policies to wear my piercings at work (I have my lip pierced twice and my nose twice). All of them said it was not a problem as this was not a job where I would be seeing the customer. In my entire 9 months of employment not one supervisor, manager, employee or CEO has said a word to me about my piercings. I have shook hands with Don Lawson who is the site director and he never said anything. Well last week I applied for a new line group within west corporation working on the PAL line group as an aide for at home agents. I had my interview last thursday with the operations supervisor for the line group. I was hired that day and Friday I had orientation. Both of those days John (the operations supervisor) never said a word about my piercings. I started training on Monday at 10am I worked monday, tuesday, wednesday and thursday…nothing was said. Friday I come in and John informs me that there is a West policy that states employees are allowed one discreet facial piercing. I asked him to show me this policy as I didn’t believe it seeing as I have been working there 9 months. Sure enough there is a policy on the employee website but I could not find it in the actual policy manual. Anyways to make a long story short I think it is awful that they are giving me an ultimatum of either loosing my job or taking out my piercings. It is my cultural belief that one should be able to do as they please with there bodies and I feel as if I am being singled out and discriminated against. All the other line groups have plenty of people with piercings. Is this discrimination? Am I being singled out? Is there anything I can do about it or what would you do in my situation. I have bills to pay and I am scared of loosing my job but I need to decide what I am going to do monday morning when I arrive at training. I just dont know if I can take my piercings out and feel like I’m not letting someone walk all over me and not standing up for my beliefs. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Also, I realize due to social stigmas that to some people a piercing may be seen as nothing more than a fashion trend. Its like wearing a bracelet its just an accessory. Well to someone like me it is more than that. It is deeply rooted into my beliefs that one can do whatever they please with their own bodies. Noone else has the right to tell me I am less of a person or uncapable of performing above and beyone what the average employee could because I choose to pierce myself. I am really just looking for some insight. A similar experience maybe or a suggestion?

I am trying to set up a website for an online store. How do I set up one of those credit card forms that you fill out when you buy something online so that when customers want to purchase, then can fill out those forms and the money automatically be transferred to my bank account?

I have a LG Voyager that my friend gave me.
My current phone [LG Dare] that I had with my family plan has been disconnected by my father [as a punishment] & I was wondering if it would work if go to CVS & buy minutes for my phone. & How do you activate it? I heard I don’t need a parents/credit card for this process; is that true?

Would I be better off using my Dare then the Voyager?
I don’t have a SIM card lol =/

I have applied for a credit card over the phone. The lady said it takes about three weeks to process it. Does it really take that long? I thought it would be faster if you called it in.

Ok…I must admit. I was young and dumb. I received a credit card when I was 15 very easily over the phone by lying about my age. They even called me! Og course, knowing nothing about credit I did what a 15,16 year old would do - shop. Now at 22 me and my lying has hurt my credit score. It didn’t matter to me then but now I have graduate and trying to establish myself. Credit is essential in this process! I was going to dispute this stating that at the time of the contractual agreement I was a minor and it was the cc company’s responsibility to verify that my SSN and birth date matched. I read this in a credit forum. Is this true and does it work? Have anyone ever done this?

I will never do this sh*t again. I feel depressed and embarrased about my score when I try to obtain credit or a loan now. I need some serious advice. Thanks.
The account is/was charged off.
Ok, I have never touched the card when I was 18. I shopped (big) once and never paid anything. If the account was charged off after my 18th birthday will I be able to still dispute it as a minor?
To Mary B:
First thing first - I had no means of paying for the debt while in school. I have tried to reconcile this but they do not want to work with me. A 0 bill had turned into a 00 bill and I am not able to pay that. If I wanted to act like a 13 yr old I would just forget about it and let it get removed in 7 yrs (which is in one year). I am just researching my options before I committ to anything. That doesn’t sound 13 to me. Thanks for your response by the way.

Is there a way in our PayPal account to be able to see if someone has paid us with a Visa, or Mastercard, or PayPal account? We receive notices of payments, but we don’t know if the customer specifically paid with a credit card or PayPal. Just want to know if PayPal is prevalent….thanks!
Thanks to the answer I received, but I wanted to know how I could find out if it was through a credit card or a cheque as compared to just PayPal….the question is mostly ‘how’ can I tell, not ‘if’ I can tell. Where in our PayPal merchant account will I be able to find that information. Thank you, though!

I ordered a phone with sprint, and i’m really frustrated now. Does this mean I wont get it? I just activated my credit card. I get treated like I defaulted on a shit load of payments but all I did was just not have credit cause i’m 18. I intend to pay the bill as soon as my check comes.
Which means I probably wont get a phone. That’s great. I’m getting reviewed for a required deposit on a phone. I mean give me a break, what do these people want from me? How am I supposed to get a phone if everyone either denies me a plan or requires a 300 dollar deposit.
It’s becoming really ridiculous. I need a plan, not a prepaid one. Tmobile denied me, but wants me to buy a phone full price with flex pay so I went with another place. Srpint is running that credit check for my order… even though they said my credit was approved for a plan.

Ugghhh sooooooo frustrating. I am sick of not having a cellphone.

i don’t carry cash because i have already been robed twice and lost money more then a few times in my life and i have found its just better to use my debit card for everything, it is also a good way to monitor my spending as it is all listed for me on my bank web page. just today i was buying a soda at a convenience store, it was 1.29 and i used my debit card , the Russian cashier thinking i didn’t understand his language was on the phone and said "this f%6#$ng jerk is buying a Pepsi with a credit card ,what the f*7%K" first of all it clearly states its a debit card though it can be run as credit, second of all why would it matter? if it costs them extra to process credit/debit cards they can charge a surcharge so it shouldnt be that. i cant be the only person who never uses cash.

OK, let me start off by saying I NEVER let bills go by and make sure I set aside money so I’m prompt. Also, I’m not naive- I know CCs don’t care HOW you mess up…but I also know they want to keep their customers.

LONGER VERSION:
I’m a 22 year old college student. Last year (April 2008) I got my first credit card, mainly to establish credit, and that’s it. I signed up for CitiCard Platinum Select Visa. It had 0% APR for the first 6 months, and a surprisingly good APR after that (9%). Yes, I read the fine print- if you mess up just once, they could reserve the right to bump up the APR A LOT.

So since April 2008 I’ve avoided using it for many big things- the biggest thing came when I had to step in for a family emergency and put 0 bucks on there. I wasn’t happy about that, but I did get help paying that back. I started out paying a few hundred a month (the minimum was only 22 something a month) and have since paid ON TIME every month, usually at least 40 bucks more than the minimum. Currently I had about 1300 on the bill and was paying it down. They liked me, of course, and kept increasing my limit until I had 3500 on the card (of course, I wasn’t putting more stuff, but still). Everything was good.

Until this past week.

I lost my job and was running low on my usual bank account money. When I realized I wasn’t going to be able to replenish that in time, I asked a family member to spot me 30 bucks through their account because I wanted to make sure I paid this on time. I entered their bank account info online, double checked it…but stupid me, I was still one digit off somehow and the payment was returned.

Now, I did this at the end of the month, so by the time the payment processed and was returned, it was past the due date. As SOON as I was alerted, I called them and made June’s payment over the phone (that happened on July 2nd) from my newly replenished bank account.

Today, I go online, and guess what? Yup, late fee and returned check fee. I expected that. But they also bumped my APR from 9% to 28.9% and my minimum is now 9 instead of . I expected the APR bump, but they seem to really be going for the throat.

I need to call them tommorow, obviously. What should I say? Can I get negotiate? Can I get my APR back down to 9? This is my first error in over a year and it was a clerical one…clearly I was trying to pay them. I know I’ll have to pay some fees one way or the other, but since I have new credit I’m worried about my APR and my credit score. I’m going to cancel if they don’t revert my APR, simply because I can’t afford that. What should I be leary of when cancelling, if it comes to it?

Thanks

***************SHORT VERSION:

If you didn’t want to read all that: I’m a student with new credit, has been on time with payments for over a year, tried to pay ON TIME but because of a clerical error I entered the wrong bank account info, which caused me to get a bounced check/late fee, but worst of all, my APR went from 9 to 28 percent. Can I get them to reverse this?
Called and got it resolved today, they agreed to reverse every charge and lower my APR back to normal. I didn’t even have to argue…I got lucky this time.

I ordered a family plan with 4 lines from Verizon. I paid for it with my credit card. It never said anything about putting down a deposit, just asked for my social and credit card. It took like a few seconds to process my order, but it went through and charged my credit card right away. Then I checked my email and it said the order is being process and going through a final credit check. ??? I don’t get it, will i get my order? they charged me! What will happen if the final credit check don’t get approved and I already paid?

I made a purchase at a restaurant two weeks ago. While checking my statement online yesterday, I was horrified to discover that they’d been debiting my VISA check card account every single day since for the same amount. When I called, the manager told me it was a central processing problem with the parent company’s new program, something they were trying to fix. She gave me a number to call, but also told me the woman responsible for corrections is not even going to be in the office today! I am livid! I was initially alerted to the problem when I saw a refund from the restaurant on my statement, and I investigated. So, obviously, the company is already aware that my account has an issue. Problem is that the refund was not for the total amount they’ve overcharged me! The other problem is that this missing money mess has now created other problems for me. Do I have any recourse? If I’d written a bad check, they would’ve charged me a fee for sure! Can I legally charge THEM a fee???
Just to clarify, this was a debit card, not a credit card, so they literally have my money!

I’m trying to raise my credit in the quickest way possible. I am in my freshman year of college, 18 years old, and looking to start out right.
Also, what is the best way to use a credit card in order to raise credit the fastest? I know it’s not a fast process but I’m wondering about the best way.

In March of 08 I got renters insurance through Balboa Insurance. I paid it with my credit card. When I received the paper work it said they will automatically charge my credit card when the next year was due.

I called to cancel the insurance on Feb 3 (39 days before the renewal date). They told me it takes them 45 days to process my cancellation. At that point I went postal on the douche bag on the other end of the phone and told them "Do Not Charge My Credit Card". They told me if they did, they would credit me.

What can I do to make sure they do not charge my credit card.

Being sold an ATM machine for placement in a bar in Tarrant County, Texas. Seller is telling me that there is legislation against bars or restaurants selling alcoholic beverages being allowed to offer credit card/ debit card customers cash back. Stating that as the reason I must have ATM instead of programming credit card/ debit card machine to allow cash back.
