Credit Card Machines
They just upgraded my laundry room. Now we can only use a smart card to operate the machines. We have to use a VTM to add value to the card, no cash, credit/debit card transactions only. How safe is my credit card information? I don’t want to be a victim of identity theft because of a couple loads of laundry. Any help on t his is appreciated.

your credit card information would not be stored in the local terminal the terminal just connects to the banking server where your transactions are carried out.

Do not worry. You are pretty safe there. VISA/MC set pretty high standards for equipment makers and processors. Plus the machines can only process a card if it has been programed by a processor.

I do not know how to tell you this, but you have a lot more to worry about than that. It is very easy to be a victim of identity theft these days. Many people are right now and do not even know it. You should probably look into a plan, if you are very worried. If you research, 7 in 10 people are victims everyday and most do not even know about it. I am an identiy theft expert, I represent the top company in the country, so I do know a little about it.
