Small Business Merchant Accounts
Hi all,
I’m living in Jordan (Middle East) and I prepared my online business but one important step in my business I couldn’t find any online transaction company (like verisigns, paypal, etc.) support Middle East to open Merchant accounts, why is that? I searched and contacted alot of transaction companies around the world but no luck, the online business is just opened for foreign people (from Europe, the States, etc.)
Can anyone pls. explain that to me?
Thancks,
Paypal just give me the ability to send money but I want to receive also I contacted them regarding this issue and they told me they just support sending money from my country (Jordan)

I think you’re able to open an account with Paypal to receive payments through your website, the trouble will be to have this money transferred to your Bank account in Jordan.
Have you tried 2checkout? http://www.2checkout.com
Anyway, this kind of restrictions come mainly for political reasons, I think. And things got worse after the 9/11, it seems the so-called First World Countries look at any movement of funds as a potential terrorism financing. Paypal has even set up a company in Singapore to handle the non-USA residents’ accounts.
This is all so crazy it’s almost unbelievable. Take Clickbank for instance: they offer accounts for people living in Botswana and South Korea but don’t offer an account for any Latin America Country.
