Is my Paypal account information still secure if someone used my account fraudulently today?
Someone used my Paypal account this morning to try to buy a bunch of subscriptions to MMORPGs in the UK. Visa fraud protection caught it (I love them) and I don’t have to worry about any of the charges, but I am concerned about my account. Does anyone know how they did this - did they steal my username and password or did they just use an account number or something? I already changed my Paypal password, but do I need to change passwords for other online merchants, close the account, delete my address, anything? All I’ve done with Paypal is change my password and security questions and then deleted my credit card information from the account (even though the card has been cancelled already).
Thanks a lot!

You need to change any account that is linked to your paypal. When you go to paypal and go to your account. They can see whatever information you had posted there. Also any information that is in your profile. If they used your paypal account, they had to have your password and sign on. You should be very concerned about everything on your computer. You need to run a scan with your anti-virus software. I would also get Superantispyware and Malwarebytes anti-malware from download.com. Download, install, and update these programs and run a full scan with each of them. If your computer has a information stealing trojan on it. They may have information from all your accounts. Do not sign on to any of them on that computer in till your make sure it’s clean.

It must be a worker in PayPal who may be a hacker and people give them their Web ID Number and info, so that’s why I don’t call to them often so they don’t use it, even the richest.
But the password can change everything.

It depends on whether they actually logged into your PayPal account, or if you have a PayPal visa card account which someone used.
If the former, what you have already done are the right steps, but you should also scan your computer for malware to make sure it hasn’t been hacked (which might have enabled someone to steal your PayPal password).
If the latter, you instead should get your Visa card number changed, or they will probably try to use it again

Ed G TOP MARKS!!!
Poster listen to Ed G’s advice, be very concerned as to how someone hacked (?) your account.
98% (I can’t find the report, doh) of fraudulent account usage WORLDWIDE is because the thief KNEW the password from information given by the account owner either knowingly or unknowingly (phishing)
You have an information leak (98% positive)
The safest course of action, cancel all your accounts and set up new ones, not that big a deal really, compared to loosing alot of money!
Your name is most probably on a ‘alert list’ now and can affect your credit rating! Worth looking into.
