You have been spammed — big time. If you sent only your picture, not to worry. If your sent your passport number, or any personal information, keep a VERY close watch on your credit rating through the 3 credit scoring services, notify your bank and credit card company. It may be 2-3 years before your info is used but don’t start thinking you got a free ride this time. Stay vigilant. I will never understand why people think they are going to get something for nothing. I hope this has made you a lot smarter.

it very well could be spam and once they have your personal information they can do alot. if you notice any strange behavior in your bank accounts i would contact your bank and cancel your accounts. they can technically steal your identity.

i would also email yahoo to see if they even have something like this going on, if not it’s definitely spam.

It is most definitely spam and a complete scam to get your personal information. That information can be used for identity theft. Yahoo, nor any real company would ever send an email to your phone regarding a contest. Nor would they ask for your personal information to be sent in this manner.

A real contest and prize will ALWAYS come via ’snail mail.’ Any verification would be handled the same way.

You need to contact Yahoo immediately. You will also need to contact banks, credit card companies, etc., to cover your bases. Let them know you may have been the victim of identity theft; they can put a "watch" on your accounts.

Also get a copy of your credit report as soon as possible, since new accounts and even home mortgages can be opened with your identity.
