how do i charge peoples credit cards over the internet for products they buy off my web site?

I am trying to start a Business over the web and am trying to learn how to charge over the web for my products do i need to buy a credit card machine or do i need to do something else how do i collect my money i know nothing about starting a Business.

You could use PayPal - if you get a business account with PayPal, then people can pay you either with their credit card or from their PayPal account.
When you use PayPal in this way, you never actually get the credit card numbers from your customers; instead PayPal handles all of that. You just get their money going into your PayPal account (minus a small percentage for PayPal).

You need to be set up as a merchant that accepts credit cards. there are numerous service companies that can sign you up for that. I also recommend you arrange to accept PayPal.
