Did I just get scammed or did credit card accepting restaurants start a new policy?

Mobile Credit Card Processing
I ordered chinese food from a new place today and was asked for the last three numbers on the back of my card. Without thinking I gave it as part of the purchase process. Then it hit me. I’ve only been asked about the card number and expiration in the past. I’ve used the back three for internet purchases, but never over the phone. Is it common for a delivery restaurant to ask for the back three numbers or do I need to be worried? Is this a new thing restaurants are doing? I know I sound paranoid but I just have never run into this situation before… thanks!

No, that’s just a precaution because they don’t have you or the card.

This is the CVV and is often asked if you are not physically handing them the card. You were not scammed.
