Mobile Credit Card Processing
i recently made a payment over the phone towards my car loan. upon looking at my credit card statement online i notice the charge was higher than the monthy due. the lady who took my credit card number did not tell me there would be a 15.00 processing fee to use my card. i normally pay online thru my bank but failed to do so in time this month so to avoid late fees i did it on the phone. well i avoided the late fees but got the processing fee instead. can they legally charge me a processing fee without first informing me? i do not see anything in the contract about it.

I agree with first answer. When you call there is normally a charge. There is an additional charge for payments taking over the phone. Since computers have really taken over the customer service world, you pay extra now for handling your transactions through a live person.. CRAZY but true!

This has become very standard for over-the-telephone payments it seems. I’ve been charged a processing fee by a couple of credit card companies, my local hospital, and have noticed that my utility & auto insurance bills have also adopted the same policy. While it’s illegal to tack on fees without disclosing them, I’m betting the fee policy was written in teeny tiny small print on the back of your statement where you probably didn’t see it.
It’s worth a call to the loan company with a "hey, no one told me this" and they may forgive it this once.
