I was hoping that someone who is a little more tech/internet savvy than myself could tell me another option that I could use for a charger for my credit card machine that I may have laying around. It is a Nurit 8020 wiresless machine, but I cant find the size or specifications. I need a temporary AC adaptor until my new one arrives in the mail. Please list examples of Items that may use the same style for example the power chord for the cable box…

I know how the stripe of the card is magnatized but how does that information reach the entity that verifies the information. (ie: the reader is connected by phone line to a hub at the specific credit card company and their system digitally checks it) - this is an example and I have only an idea of how it works but do you know exactly the process. Also what is the entity that verifies the informaton.

Do Highway patrol carry credit card machines in their cruisers? I was pulled over for speeding about 9 years ago in Ohio, and since i was using an international drivers license at the time, the officer told me to pay the tickets on the spot or else, i was going to have to go to jail. And then, when i told him that i had no cash, he said i can pay with my credit card and pulled a credit card reader out of his cruiser.
My friends think that i was scammed but i’m very sure that i wasn’t. Can anybody help me prove this?
UPDATE: to answer an earlier question and to make this question clearer…I was using an INTERNATIONAL DRIVERS PERMIT, and i was pulled over in OHIO, i was a student in Pennsylvania, University of Pittsburgh to be exact, and I’m asking this question now because it just came out in a conversation in my office and my friends at work don’t think this is possible….I tried contacting Ohio Highway Patrol but nobody replied my questions.

I am in the process of moving cross country for my new job and while the company is taking care of moving my items, I still need to buy things like a bed, clothes for work, car repairs, new phone (old one broke, etc. Since my new job will pay me pretty well I was thinking about taking out a personal loan to help with the initial expenses. However, I’m finding most banks won’t loan me the money since I am not established at my job yet. One banker suggested I get a credit card and use the 0% interest for 12 months and treat it as a year long loan. Do you think this is a good idea? are the any better alternatives?

I just wanted to post this ASAP.
I had an unauthorized transaction on my debit card.
On the 25th of August is said i made a purchase for 29.95 from "RZP."
I knew something wasn’t right, cus i was working that day, i didnt have time to purchase anything.
Sometimes they dont give enough detail on the online banking, they give you the shortened name or call letters for a company. Many times i remember that i made a transaction that i forgot about/didnt recognize.
So i called Wachovia and asked them, "what does RZP stand for? what company is this?"
Wachovia said they didnt know either, it was just RZP. They did have a number 1-800-423-1052.
I called the number, and i got a Indian lady from customer service. I they proceeded to ask them, why has my card been charged 29.95, i dont remember buying anything from this company/website.
THey then said, ok we can help you, can we have your credit card number?!?!?!?
I said ABSOLUTELY NOT! You can have the last 4 digits, or my last name.
They took my last name, then i interjected, I said "what company is this? What does RZP stand for, i do not remember making such a transaction?
They then proceeded to say is was an Adult Entertainment Company/Website.
I immediately said thank you, hung up the phone and proceeded to call back wachovia to open up a authorized transaction dispute.

I want to know if i am ALONE OR NOT?
Has anyone noticed the same charge, RZP purchase .95???
They have a number 1-800-423-1052??
Please help!
Together we can maybe get a definitive answer and bring these people downl
If it helps in the past couple of weeks, i have used MUSICSTACK.com, an online record store, where you have to give your credit card number to the individual sellers so they can process your order.
But i thought i used a reputable seller from the UK who has a STOREFRONT. that company was CLAMPDOWN records.
I also live in the NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ area and also work in the PARMUS/Hackensack, northern NJ area.
PLEASE help
again,
Unauthorized transaction made with RZP, Adult entertainment. phone number 1800 423-1052
Thank you,
William K.

I need some legal advice because this kinda woke me up. I ate at a restaurant tonight and paid with my visa check card, the guy gave me my reciept from the credit card machine, and instead of giving me the customer copy he gave me the merchant copy. I looked, and my entire string of my credit card number was on that copy with the exp date. My thought was if they have an employee planning to go nuts… they can take my credit card and go shopping. Do I have grounds to file a lawsuit here?

I work 25 hours per week, so part-time is a "benefit" i guess. But I get no other benefits whatsoever. What do you think is a fair wage for my position of Office Manager (Administrative Assistant) in a small office in a Detroit suburb? My duties include: answering phones, handling customer questions, researching & resolving problems, invoicing customers, paying bills, accounts receivable, preparing & mailing letters/contracts, generating reports, monitoring, researching & ordering supplies, opening & sorting mail, preparing software and bindings, scheduling appointments, making cold-calls, monthly/quarterly/yearly tax reports & payments, preparing bank deposits, payroll, W-4s, W-2s, 1099-MISCs, making collection calls, processing credit card payments, admin assistant duties (i.e. order lunch, arrange travel for Pres), vacuum, wash windows & mirrors, empty wastebaskets, dust, clean desks, scrub toilets/sinks. Besides the minor computer & printer maint., I think I covered most of it

Finally dropping the Telco and moving data and voice services to Time Warner…

We have an old 4 Line AT&T Partner phone system (4 lines), an alarm and a credit card machine.

Line 1, 2 and 3 will go direct to the AT&T System. Line 4 with need to connect to the alarm, followed by the credit card machine and finally connect to the phone system.

What would be the best way to wire that so it makes sense to others and looks clean, proper, professional.

I can run network cable all day long, but get uncomfortable when I’m not just punching to a patch panel and rj45 jack.

I’ll be using a patch panel for our extensions. If it makes sense, I could use a patch panel for the 4 incoming lines as well.

I was wondering what is the name or how do you call the credit card (swipe-tool) that some sales people use? Like those people that come to your business and try to sell you spa packages and they accept credit cards, Is like a machine-tool that allows you to copy the credit card when u place it on the back. Kind of what some nightclubs have when u pay at the entrance. But it is not the electronic one that u have to enter ur pin number, is the Manual one.

If u can help me to find out more info like name and how much it cost, or if they charge u for transaccion, or where can I get this I will really appreciate that.

Thank you,

;-)

I use a cell connection for my notebook and I have a credit card machine (Ingenico 5100) that I would like to connect to it. My wireless connection uses a USB connection for the cell service, and I think there should be a way to do this easily, but I cannot figure it out. Seems to me that my wired connection should be able to be configured on my notebook to bridge the cell adapter and credit card machine. The Ingenico has a network cable and network capable.

I’m looking for recommendations for a company (like pay-pal) that I can use to process credit card transactions online and by telephone when we take donations or sell merchandise. I’ve had several people complain about pay-pal and they don’t seem to let you process credit cards for donation by phone. Any ideas?

i sell jewelry at local street fairs and have one of the old school credit card machines where i take an imprint of the card and come home and run it on the computer. today when i tried to run one of the cards it came up as declined. i have an imprint of the guy’s card, his name, and driver’s license number, is there anything i can do about this bad card and to get my money? it’s not a ton of money but it’s enough that it is worth putting in some time and effort trying to get him to pay for the stuff he bought at the fair.
i do not have any of his contact info, just his name and driver’s license number, and it is an out of state license. no phone number, no address.

Hi there,
Thanks for your time.
My husband and I recently applied for credit…well in the process my husband gave his social to a scammer and so now we have a fraud alert on both our credit reports.
Can I use my current credit cards with this fraud alert on my credit?
What will happen at the two places we applied for credit at? (we applied befpre teh fraud alert was placed).
When my husband placed his fraud alert they asked for a phone number for creditors to call–not with me though I hand to hang up half way through after putting in my social becuase our two year old locked me out of the house while I was on the phone…so now what?

My boss always has me doing miscellaneous odd jobs while I’m at work in his store, and today one of his assignments to me is to find out (even though I am about 75% incompetent with computers and technology of all sorts) if he could cancel his LAN line for one of his businesses, but use a cell phone that he’s already paying for every month to run the credit card machine. Someone I know suggested that he’d have to buy a -600 machine to work with the cell phone, and I know the clerk @ that business can always call one of his other businesses and run the card transactions through one of his viable credit card machines. But if someone knows ANYTHING credible about this, I would really love some information, cuz I’m really in the weeds here! Thanks!
ok, "land" line then, goes to show how technology retarded I am
excuse me, "technologically challenged" i believe is the PC term, before ppl start flagging this question.
if my boss disconnected his "land line" we would have no internet.

I am the lead network administrator for a company that takes credit cards via the web and phone for large Fortune 500 customers. Since a lot of our clients are publicly traded companies or financial institutions they often require us to be PCI compliant (security standard to help prevent credit card fraud). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Payment_Card_Industry_Data_Security_Standard

As it relates to me being a network admin we have to secure our physical network externally as well as our web-based credit card processing sites at an application level. Right now our web sites cannot pass the PCI external scanning requirements. If we or a third party run a test scan against them they fail several key measurements of security due to bad coding, etc. If I tighten down the security to get it to pass the test, it will;, however, the sites wont work for even placing orders! lol

Thats the problem - the IT Director and CIO are under a lot of heat to get us PCI compliant, but honestly they are just really bad managers on the whole and give little communication/direction to their employees. My boss (IT Director) had be tighten down the security just for a 3rd party PCI auditor to do a external scan so it would show passed then we had to immediately turn it off since these tighter security settings take down our sites. Now they are running aroudn the company broadcasting how we are meeting these security standards and telling all of our clients we are PCI compliant, but I know damn well today we are not. Through proper planning, testing, and execution yes we could be and most people could, but as you can see this did not happen.

My big issue with this from a moral standpoint is I was instructed to partake in what I consider to be a dishonest act. In business and sales I am fully aware that the truth sometimes has to be bent to a near breaking point to accquire business, but the way this played out leaves me with a guilty concious. Both people internally and externally are going to be lied to and have been already. Can we become legitimately PCI compliant? Yes….. but not like this. Now that they got their passed scan in no one but me really even cares are truely becoming compliant.

I think if we were a publicly traded company this would be illegal, but we are a private company. I fear if I take this to HR I may get fired by these same bosses. Since we are an at-will state for employment and I cannot tell this is breaking any federal law then I would have no action against them.

Please advise!

We have a credit card machine at our grooming salon. We work on straight commission and tips. There is no hourly wage. We earn a percentage of each dog that we groom. There is a tip line available on the credit card slip if clients feel that they want to leave a gratuity. Most of our customers do leave tips. The salon owner says that the machine and the tip line is costing her hundreds a month so she wants to have us give her per client plus 5% of our tips. Is this normal at other pet grooming or human grooming salons? I know you can’t give me an exact amount because it varies on the type of business, volume etc., but generally how much does the tip line cost and what is the average cost for a credit card machine per month?
