After being such an irresponsible teenager and young adult, at the age of 32 I am not thinking about buying a house very soon and have started the process of cleaning my credit. I am thinking about buying a house in Indianapolis sometime in August or September of this year. Currently my FICO score is 530. I’m having trouble understanding why my score is so low when I only have in my opinion a few things on there. Currently I have 3 very deliquent credit cards on there, 3 old cell phone companies, 2 old cable companies, 1 line of credit for a dental proceedure for k, a k loan, car not, 2 student loans, and a joint shared credit card I have w/my mom. Currently what’s in good standing is my k loan, my car note, my joint credit card w/mom and student loan. So far, I have paid off 1 deliquent credit card, which leaves 2 more still on there and 1 cell phone company. What do you suggest I pay first? Should I do the credit card debt because it is very deliquent and higher or should I pay off the small stuff like the cell phones/cable companies? Do you think if I seriously tackle this credit issue it can be paid off by August and I can have a 675+ score? When buying a house are finance companies looking at the stuff like cell phone charges or more on the credit card and loans I have out. Please advise!!!

NEW YORK (AP) — A group of taxi drivers launched a two-day strike Wednesday, right in the middle of the New York Fashion Week and the U.S. Open tennis tournament, to protest a city plan to require GPS tracking in cabs.

As the morning rush hour got under way, the lines of commuters waiting for taxis outside Pennsylvania Station were longer than usual, but there were still cabs on the streets.

Financial analyst Matt Achilarre said he had waited almost 20 minutes for a taxi there and had no sympathy for the striking drivers.

"It’s pointless — they’re not making any statements," said Achilarre, 26, who commutes by train from New Jersey. "I applaud the cabbies that are working. They’ll get a windfall."

The New York Taxi Workers Alliance called the strike in the nation’s largest city to protest new rules requiring all cabs to have global positioning systems and touch-screen monitors that will let passengers pay by credit card. Some cabbies fear the GPS systems could be used to track their movements and that they could get stuck paying hefty fees for credit card processing.

"The overwhelming majority of drivers are against this system, and there are serious setbacks this system is causing drivers," the alliance’s executive director, Bhairavi Desai, said Wednesday.

Desai said the drivers’ group hoped the strike would persuade city officials to back off the requirement.

It wasn’t immediately clear how many of the city’s 13,000 taxis would be idled. The alliance claims to represent about one-fifth of the Taxi & Limousine Commission’s 44,000 licensed drivers, but its leaders predicted a larger number would join in. However, several other groups that represent thousands of city cab drivers released statements opposing the strike.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg downplayed the likelihood of widespread disruption, but the city still allowed taxis to pick up multiple separate passengers, and the transit system added buses on some airport routes. Normally, taxi drivers are allowed to pick up only one passenger or group of passengers at a time.

The mayor’s office had no immediate comment on the situation Wednesday morning. A taxi commission spokesman did not immediately return a message left on his cell phone.

The New York Police Department assigned extra police officers to taxi garages and transportation hubs, and plainclothes officers were to ride in some taxis to guard against reprisals against cabbies who chose not to strike, police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said.

The city’s cabs must have the high-tech equipment when they come up for inspection, starting October 1. Taxi officials say eliminating the need for cash could increase ridership and drivers’ incomes, and that the GPS technology will be used to give drivers traffic tips and help passengers find lost items.

I graduated from my second college in December of 2008. While in school, my loans were in deferment from my first school. The company who bought the loan was ACS. I found out recently that "Sunburst Bank" had been reporting my student loans as late from June ‘08 through December ‘08 (while they were in deferment). I called the phone number on my credit report for "Sunburst Bank," and the phone number was for ACS - the company that bought my student loans. As if that wasn’t confusing enough, the lady who said she would send my inquiry on to the "credit reporting department" also said that there was no one to talk with in that department…..leading me to ask then how is this inquiry going to be processed. In the meantime, my credit score has tanked over 100 points, my credit card companies are raising my APRs, my car insurance is rising……and all for something I didn’t do and that isn’t my fault.

How do I get this corrected? I first reported the mistake on August 27, but today when I called the claim is still "pending" and they had no more information than that. They said that it takes 5-7 days for a claim inquiry to be processed through their credit reporting department and that I would be notified when it has been resolved…..but if there is no one to talk with in that department, how is anyone going to notify me???? If there is anyone out there who has an idea what steps I should take, please I’m desperate.

2. When you buy something using PayPal, how can that work if you don’t have bank account or have not given your card details?
3. If you have sold an item and someone has bought it using PayPal, how do you get your money in cash and how do you know if they have paid?

This is not really a question more like information for you guys. I have been doing this on my own since September 2009, decided not to waste a month with Lexington Law to do the same thing, I have managed to Successfully have my Bankruptcy Chapter 7 (Filed in 2005) DELETED from all 3 Credit Reports, as well as 10 other Negative Credit Cards from Capital One, Target, Macy’s and various collection agencies within 4 months.

Just recently I have been able to obtain a New Car Loan, and a Cell Phone Credit Account.

Here is how you do it:
Get your credit report
THE FIRST DISPUTE WILL MOST LIKELY NOT REMOVE IT -
Dispute the information "Please verify all balances/dates as this accuracy of this account is incorrect"
**They have 30-45 days to respond, if they do not verify it, by law it is deleted, if they do it will update*

**DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED- - THIS IS A PROCESS**

When/If it comes back unchanged/Updated Re-Dispute it and state:
"Please state your method of your verification process and source all information on balances, dates and provide information"

Give it 30-45 Days, It most likely will come off/delete from your credit report
If it does not, re-dispute it again with the same statement

My score has increased 100 points in 5 months and i have went from 10 derogatory remarks and a bankruptcy to 3 remarks and no bankruptcy

Background

Your assignment this time is to build an interactive program that allows telemarketers to solicit people in a file for credit cards. The program will open up a text file filled with potential customers and display processed data to the screen in a way that the telemarketer can use it. The program will then give them choices to continue the sales call and finally, will save output to a file for future credit card processing.

Functionality

The program should do the following:

•Read a customer status, name and phone number from a file called potentials.txt

oA customer has a preferred status if the field contains an ‘X’. If it contains anything else, they are not preferred.

•Display the name, phone number and the available interest rate for that customer so that the telemarketer can read it, call the customer and offer them a credit card

oPreferred customers get 7.9%, everybody else gets 12.9%

•Display a menu offering the following options:

oEnter ‘A’ to Accept the card
For this option –
Ask for an address to send the card to
Accept the address
Print a thank you message for telemarketer to read telling the Customer to expect the card soon, happy charging

oEnter ‘T’ to accept and Transfer a balance
For this option-
If preferred – tell them there is no transfer limit
•Accept any dollar amount entered
If not preferred – tell them they can transfer up to 00
•Accept any dollar amount entered as long as it isn’t greater than 1000 (keep asking until you get something less than 1000)
Ask for an address to send the card to
Accept the address
Print thank you message for telemarketer to read telling the customer to expect the card soon, happy charging

oEnter ‘D’ to Decline the card
For this option
If preferred – tempt them with cash back rewards and give them a special phone number to call for a better card
If not preferred – tell them thanks anyhow

•Write the results to a file called confirmed.txt

oThis file should contain the following:
Name
Address
Status flag (X or whatever)
If the account is new (A) or transfer (T)
Any dollar amount they may be transferring.

If the customer declines, they should not appear in the confirmed file

I got the Magic Jack and it works great! The calls are very clear. The only question for me before I go ahead and call tomorrow to disconnect my regular phone services is….. how do I process the credit card payments I get from my customers? I am an artist and do trade shows. I currently use a Nurit 3010 credit card swipe machine with a wireless merchant service. At my last show, another merchant told me that she thought there is now a product called a "cell phone dock" that would allow me to do credit card transactions with my cell phone. Normally these docks are for connecting your cell phone to your home or office wired phones. If this is true it would save me tremendous "$" as the merchant service is NOT cheap. Does anybody know if this would work?

Also, if this wont work, if somebody invents a gadget that will do this they will make a fortune! There are thousands of mobile merchants who are on systems like mine.

I want to make an online purchase, the merchant only accepts Visa or Mastercard. I have a savings/checking account, Discover card and a paypal account with a positive balance. Is there a way to purchase a prepaid Visa or Mastercard credit card online so that I can make the online purchase?
Travelman the merchant not only doesn’t take paypal but doesn’t even take discover card which is my backup card on paypal. Also, I already filled out the form to get the Paypal debit card but it said it takes 4 weeks to arrive in the mail and in the meantime they don’t give you the card number like green dot does until the card arrives so I need something faster for immediate use.
